So I officially hit the realization that the Twitter DM button is now the new linkedIn. I can't for the life of me remember where I read this but there is such a different dynamic over on Twitter. It feels like there is almost an open door policy (the DM button), where just about anybody can start a conversation with you without any friction that just feels so natural, which ironically enough, LinkedIn can't replicate . Here is a blog post about me ranting about LinkedIn.
I think that a lot people don't fully understand the power of just reaching out or sending a friendly gesture through a DM. I've accidentally and indirectly gotten work by just acquainting myself with people who interest me. This has also lead to a lot of my own friendships within the maker community.
So the next time you enjoy another creators work. Send them a DM, and you'd be surprised as to where it might lead you.
