In this weeks issue, we look at growth hacking reddit, copywriting tools, a Slice logo and more.

Hey, Nic here ✌🏻

Welcome to issue #027 of The Slice. If you missed last week's issue, you can
read here 👈

As you can tell, I decided it was about time to make a logo upgrade. The old one was kinda 'meh' and didn't really align with what I envision The Slice to be. Let me know what you think by replying to this email. I have a few other designs which I have hacked together as well.

Also! The landing page needed a bit of TLC as well, so I decided to make a complete overhaul. I haven't yet rerouted the domain but that's something I'll do over the weekend. Here is the (almost) finished landing page. Again, suggestions and advice are much appreciated

I also recently wrote an article on How to get in front of an audience as a newsletter creator for The Newsletter Crew. Here's a little break down of what I spoke about.
  • Find where your audience hangs out.
  • How I created my own growth loop.
  • Different growth Channels.
  • Giving more than you take.

This week's featured newsletter is Farnam Street, a newsletter that hundreds of thousands wake up to every Sunday. Full of timeless ideas and insight that sharpens your mind at work and home.

Been reading this newsletter for quite some time now and its kinda been one of those that I kept to myself, but this week I thought I'd share it.

Good reads 📚

There is a lot of crap on the internet, so I rifle through it and pick out a gem or two that I found this week.

Acquisition Channel of the Week: SEO (with a twist)
"Most of the people who were successful with SEO used other acquisition channels first. They didn't start with SEO right from the get-go. This was a pretty interesting observation.Read more

Progamming sucks.
"Every friend I have with a job that involves picking up something heavier than a laptop more than twice a week eventually finds a way to slip something like this into conversation: “Bro,1 you don’t work hard. I just worked a 4700-hour week digging a tunnel under Mordor with a screwdriver." Read more

Take Asymmetric Bets.
"Founding a company might have job risk, but it often has little career risk. It’s an example of an asymmetric bet—a bet that, if it works, will have tremendous upside, and if it doesn’t, will still generate optionality.” Read more

Growing on Reddit with self-promotion, minus the pitchforks. - I've recently become quite the fan of Grow Getters, which is primarily focused on experimenting with different growth hacking channels. As a big Reddit myself, you can imagine my excitement when they tried to give it a go.

Btw, Reddit can be really "iffy" when it comes to self-promotion and the users tend to bring out he pitch forks 90% of the time, so this article really does hit the nail on the head on how to approach it using it as a growth channel.
