Yo! Whats up, Nic here and welcome to issue #018 of The Slice ✌ If you missed last week's issue, you can view it here.
Nic made a massive oopsie last week and forgot to add the damn link to the SEO resource! But don't worry I added it again this week, so my deepest apologies. 😔
In other news, this week I have teamed with Gene who recently launched Swipe, and he's been kind enough to offer all The Slice subscribers 40% off his product if you use the discount code "slice40". For transparency, I do get a tinsy winsy commission from this. More details on that below. This week I also took a long hard look at the way I did sponsors/classifieds, and made some major changes to the price that better reflect The Slice. I also revamped the web page to give you more detailed information. So if you're interested in advertising with The Slice, click here |
'Self-serving Bias' In last 3 years, especially during this course of this year, I've made quite the habit of staying accountable to myself, but a few years ago I was quite the opposite of who I am today. Factors that made me more accountable were when I started working for myself, living abroad in a foreign country and most notably, me starting this newsletter.I didn't think too much of this self-serving bias and I didn't really notice that I had changed until it was made apparent to me by what Vaibhav wrote in his most recent edition of Psyche newsletter explaining the self-serving bias.
"It is defined as the tendency where we attribute the occurrence of positive events on yourself but when it comes to negative events, we’ll credit or blame it on the external factors." As I've grown, I've become more self-aware of myself when these these tendencies occur, and all it takes is a bit self-awareness and accountability to mitigate.
